We are pleased to welcome Maja Solum, Executive Operations Manager at Ubiq Aerospace, as a speaker at Forsvarskonferansen Nordic Defence and Security Conference 2026.
Ubiq Aerospace is a Norwegian technology company developing advanced aerospace systems for both military and commercial aircraft. Founded in Trondheim as a spin-out from NTNU’s Centre of Excellence for Autonomous Marine Operations and Systems, the dual-use company was co-founded by a leading professor and is built on deep technical expertise, with a team of some fifteen PhDs. Ubiq’s technologies are trusted by leading aerospace and defense primes, including Lockheed Martin, Boeing, Northrop Grumman, and Sikorsky, and are designed to perform in some of the sector’s most demanding operational environments.
As Executive Operations Manager, Solum works closely with Ubiq Aerospace’s leadership team to support the company’s expansion into international defense and aerospace markets. Her work includes identifying and pursuing strategic opportunities and raising awareness of Ubiq’s novel capability offering among defense end users. With a background in international business and geopolitics, she operates at the intersection of technology, defense policy, and business development.
Ubiq Aerospace’s flagship technology is an autonomous, SWaP-optimized ice detection and protection system (IPS) for unmanned aircraft systems, with applications across the wider aviation industry. The company is also developing a nano synthetic aperture radar (nSAR), enabling sensing capabilities in poor weather conditions. Together, the IPS and nSAR allow unmanned aircraft systems to operate and gather intelligence in harsh weather environments, expanding the operational battlespace for UAS platforms.
At Forsvarskonferansen Nordic Defence and Security Conference 2026, Solum will share insights into the opportunities and challenges facing innovative small and medium-sized enterprises in the defence sector. Drawing on Ubiq Aerospace's experience, she will discuss how cutting-edge technology companies can scale internationally, collaborate across borders and contribute to strengthening future defence capabilities.
We look forward to welcoming Maja Solum to Scandic Hell on September 22–23.
