Professor Katarzyna Zysk from the Norwegian Institute for Defence Studies (IFS) will be among the keynote speakers at Forsvarskonferansen – Nordic Defence and Security Conference 2026, where she will provide a security and defence policy perspective on the evolving strategic landscape.
Zysk is Professor of International Relations and Contemporary History at the Norwegian Institute for Defence Studies, part of the Norwegian Defence University College, and is widely recognised as one of Norway’s leading experts on Russian security and defence policy.
Her research focuses on Russian military strategy, nuclear deterrence, Arctic security, and the implications of emerging technologies and artificial intelligence for defence innovation. Her expertise has become increasingly relevant as European nations adapt to a rapidly changing security environment and strengthen their defence capabilities.
Throughout her career, Zysk has held several senior leadership roles at IFS and has been a visiting fellow at internationally renowned institutions, including Stanford University, the University of Oxford, and the US Naval War College. Her research and analysis are regularly sought after by policymakers, military professionals, and defence communities in Norway and abroad.
