NORDSEC member company Oskar Pedersen AS has joined Row for Ukraine as a supporting partner, backing an ambitious trans-North Sea rowing expedition raising funds for Ukraine.

The initiative combines endurance, maritime capability, and a clear purpose: generating support for Ukrainian units while maintaining international attention on the ongoing war.

A demanding expedition for a critical cause

Row for Ukraine is led by four cadets from the Royal Norwegian Naval Academy, who in summer 2026 will row from Bergen to London, a journey of more than 1,000 kilometers across one of the world’s most demanding sea areas.

The route closely mirrors the length of the frontline in Ukraine, adding a symbolic dimension to the expedition.

The crew will operate without assistance, navigating heavily trafficked waters, shipping lanes, and offshore energy infrastructure under continuously changing and often harsh weather conditions.

The expedition is both a physical feat and a symbolic act, reflecting the resilience shown by the Ukrainian people. Its primary goal is to mobilize support and raise funds for concrete deliveries to units operating on the front line.

All surplus funds from the expedition will go directly to Fritt Ukraina’s work delivering critical equipment to Ukrainian forces, including support to the 36th Separate Marine Brigade.

Contributing operational expertise

As a supporting partner, Oskar Pedersen AS contributes to enabling the project and aligns with an initiative that demands precision, planning, and execution under pressure.

The company is an experienced provider of operational solutions, with a strong track record in the Scandinavian defence sector.

Its core competencies include logistics, project management, and procurement, capabilities that are highly relevant in complex, real-world operations.

“Row for Ukraine is a strong initiative that highlights the need for continued support for Ukraine’s fight against the Russian invasion. Ukraine’s struggle for freedom is significant for the future of all of Europe, and it is important that we, as part of the defence industry, contribute where we can. We encourage all NORDSEC members to do the same,” says Truls Oskar Pedersen, CEO of Oskar Pedersen.

The expedition itself is structured around a continuous 24-hour watch system, reflecting military operational procedures and reinforcing the relevance of structured execution and discipline in extreme environments.

“For us, it means a great deal to have a partner that represents quality, reliability, and strong collaboration,” Aleksander Skogly-Jensen in the Row for Ukraine team states.

Industry engagement in support of Ukraine

The involvement of Oskar Pedersen AS highlights how industry actors can contribute beyond traditional deliveries, by supporting initiatives that raise awareness, mobilize resources, and reinforce long-term commitment to Ukraine. Oskar Pedersen AS is one of many NORDSEC member companies actively engaging in support for Ukraine.

The project also demonstrates how maritime competence, operational training, and defence-related expertise can be applied in high-impact civilian initiatives with clear strategic relevance.

For NORDSEC, this is a clear example of how defence-related expertise can also play a role in broader efforts with strategic and societal impact.
