The Trondheim-based startup Ocelli is developing a scalable solution for aerial surveillance that enables organizations to monitor and identify airborne threats by making better use of existing infrastructure. The company has recently become a member of NORDSEC Nordic Defence and Security Cluster.
Originally established as a student startup, Ocelli develops 3D aerial surveillance technology based on camera systems. By integrating existing surveillance infrastructure into a digital twin, the company's solution provides tracking and identification of aerial targets without requiring expensive dedicated sensors.
As the threat posed by drones continues to grow, the technology aims to provide operators of critical infrastructure with improved situational awareness of the airspace surrounding their facilities.
"We want to make aerial surveillance more accessible by making better use of existing infrastructure. Our solution enables organizations to gain a comprehensive overview of their surrounding airspace without investing in costly new sensor systems," say Jonas Låstad, CEO and co-founder at Ocelli.
Låstad is also pursuing a PhD, and Richard Alexander Haydon, co-founder at Ocelli, recently completed a bachelor's degree in computer science.
Through its membership in NORDSEC, Ocelli aims to strengthen its position in the defence and security market by building new relationships, gaining market insight and developing pilot partnerships.
"Joining NORDSEC gives us access to valuable industry networks, market insight and opportunities to establish pilot partnerships. As a young company, being part of a strong defence and security ecosystem is invaluable. We also look forward to contributing our expertise in computing and materials science while learning from the other members," say Låstad and Haydon.
With Ocelli on board, NORDSEC continues to strengthen its network of innovative companies developing technologies that enhance resilience, situational awareness and security across the defence and critical infrastructure sectors.
