LGR Technologies demonstrates cross-border sensor network at two exhibitions simultaneously

LGR Technologies used two major industry events in June to demonstrate more than just its products. By deploying sensors in both Estonia and Norway, the company created a shared real-time operational picture spanning two countries.

During the same week, LGR Technologies exhibited at the defence exhibition SSD Expo 2026 in Tallinn and the technology festival Kongsberg Agenda in Norway. Instead of relying on simulations or prerecorded demonstrations, the company connected sensors at both locations into a single live system.

“We could have shown a video or a simulation on our stand. Instead, we demonstrated the system exactly as it is intended to be used, with sensors in two countries reporting into one shared operational picture. It gave us valuable learning experiences and added an extra layer of complexity,” said Stian Landstad, CEO of LGR Technologies.

Throughout the exhibition week, the company deployed its Mobile Lightweight Tactical Sensor (MLTS) units both at SSD Expo in Tallinn and at TeXpo during Kongsberg Agenda. The sensors streamed live data into the company's Heimdall platform, where units in both countries appeared side by side with real-time updates on status, latest detections and battery levels.

The demonstration was conducted as part of normal exhibition operations rather than in a controlled test environment. Once installed and connected, the sensors reported into the same system regardless of whether they were located 50 metres or 800 kilometres from the display.

“This is the core of what we are building. You should be able to deploy sensors wherever they are needed while maintaining one shared situational picture regardless of distance,” Landstad said.

Relevant for border security and critical infrastructure protection

MLTS has been developed for perimeter security and surveillance in areas where fixed infrastructure is impractical or undesirable. The system is particularly suited for monitoring terrain that naturally channels movement through limited access points, enabling a relatively small number of sensors to cover larger areas efficiently.

Designed and tested for Nordic operating conditions, the system is built to withstand harsh environments while remaining simple to deploy and operate in the field.

“The feedback from both exhibitions confirmed that the need is real. Operators and decision-makers immediately understood the concept when they saw two countries represented in the same operational picture. That was more convincing than anything we could have explained ourselves,” Landstad said.

Looking ahead

Following the successful demonstration, LGR Technologies is now following up contacts established at both events while continuing pilot projects in the Nordic region and exploring opportunities in the Baltic market.

The company expects the experience gained from the cross-border deployment to contribute to the further development of both the MLTS sensor platform and the Heimdall situational awareness system.
