With roots stretching back to Kongsberg Våpenfabrikk and experience across defence, maritime, subsea and advanced product development, Knightec Group is joining NORDSEC to expand its network and contribute to the development of the Norwegian and European defence industry.
Knightec Group is an international engineering and technology consultancy working with product development, simulation, software and production across several industries.

The Trondheim office has 13 employees and is part of a group with 2,400 employees, including 120 in Norway. The team combines expertise in mechanical and electrical engineering, cybernetics and software, working on projects ranging from maritime and crane simulation to subsea and offshore technology, and supporting customers from early concepts through prototyping and production.
“We represent a resource of engineers with roots back to 1980 and Kongsberg Våpenfabrikk. We have vast knowledge and experience within the defence sector, and we would like to use this to grow our own, our partners’ and our customers’ businesses,” says Rune Staveli Kvernland, Area Manager at Knightec Group Trondheim.

From concept to production
Knightec can support the full development process from idea and engineering to prototypes and production. The company also has prototype and small-series production capabilities in Kongsberg, allowing products to be developed and assembled before moving into larger-scale manufacturing.
This combination of disciplines and production capabilities is particularly relevant to a defence industry where new technology needs to move rapidly from development and testing towards operational use and industrialisation.

Building connections across defence and ocean technology
Through NORDSEC, Knightec aims to establish new partnerships, connect with potential customers and take a more active role in the development of the defence industry in Norway and Europe.
“We want to meet partners and customers, participate in networking activities and be involved in the development of the defence industry in Norway and Europe,” says Kvernland.
Knightec is already a member of Ocean Autonomy Cluster, connecting the company to Trondheim’s ecosystem for maritime technology and ocean autonomy. By joining NORDSEC, the company is now part of two complementary cluster environments where its experience from defence, maritime technology and advanced engineering can contribute to new collaboration across sectors.
