Frode Ommundsen, Major General and Head of the Norwegian Home Guard (Heimevernet), has been confirmed as a speaker at the upcoming Forsvarskonferansen - Nordic Defence and Security Conference.
Ommundsen currently leads the Norwegian Home Guard and is responsible for the continued development of Norway’s territorial defence capabilities and rapid-response preparedness. He assumed the role in 2023 after a long military career that includes several senior leadership positions within the Norwegian Armed Forces.
Throughout his career, Ommundsen has held key operational and leadership roles in the Army, including in the Telemark Battalion and Panserbataljonen. He also brings extensive international experience from missions in Bosnia, Kosovo, and Afghanistan.
In addition to his operational background, Ommundsen has completed advanced military education at institutions such as the NATO Defence College and the Royal College of Defence Studies in London.
At Forsvarskonferansen - Nordic Defence and Security Conference, Ommundsen will fokus on the military requirements and Nordic Defence cooperation in a NATO framework.
